5052 aluminum alloy in CNC fabrication belongs to Al-Mg alloy series, which is widely used, especially in the construction industry, and is one of the most promising alloys. It has good corrosion resistance , excellent weldability , good cold workability, and medium strength. The main alloying element of 5052 aluminum alloy is magnesium, which has good forming and processing performance , corrosion resistance , weldability, and medium strength. It is used to manufacture aircraft fuel tanks, oil pipes, and sheet metal parts of transportation vehicles and ships, instruments, street lamp brackets and rivets , hardware products , electrical housings, etc.

Process performance:



Formability

① Aluminum alloy 5052 in CNC fabrication has good hot process plasticity. The forging and die forging temperature is 420~475°C, and hot deformation with a deformation rate of 80% is carried out within this temperature range.

② Its cold stamping performance is related to the alloy state. The cold stamping performance in the annealed (O) state is good, followed by the H32 and H34 states, and poor in the H36/H38 state.

Welding performance

① The gas welding, arc welding, resistance welding, spot welding and seam welding performance of aluminum alloy 5052 are good, but there is a tendency of crystal cracks in argon arc welding. The brazing performance is good, but the soft soldering performance is poor.

② The strength and plasticity of the weld are high, and the weld strength reaches 90%~95% of the base metal strength. However, the air tightness of the weld is not high. It is recommended to use 5A03 alloy as solder, which can improve its air tightness and eliminate the tendency of cracks.

Machining performance

The cutting performance of aluminum alloy 5052 in annealed state is poor, but it improves in cold work hardened state.

Applications:



5052 aluminum plate is AL-Mg alloy aluminum plate in CNC fabrication. Magnesium is the main alloying element in 5052 alloy aluminum plate. It is the most widely used rust-proof aluminum. This alloy has high strength, especially fatigue resistance : high plasticity and corrosion resistance , cannot be strengthened by heat treatment, has good plasticity during semi- cold hardening , low plasticity during cold hardening, good corrosion resistance, good weldability, poor machinability, and can be polished.


It is mainly used for low-load parts that require high plasticity and good weldability and work in liquid or gas media , such as fuel tanks, gasoline or lubricating oil pipes, etc.; as well as various liquid containers and other small-load parts made by deep drawing , such as wire used to make rivets.
