Galvanized sheet-SGCC material
Basic introduction:
Galvanized sheet in CNC fabrication refers to a steel sheet with a layer of zinc on the surface. It not only has the physical properties and machinability of ordinary cold-rolled sheet, but also has excellent corrosion resistance and decorative appearance. Compared with SECC, SGCC material is harder, less plastic (to prevent deep drawing design), the zinc layer is thicker, and the weldability is weaker . Galvanizing is a frequently used economical and effective rust prevention method. About half of the world's zinc production is used for this process. It is widely used in construction, home appliances, vehicles and ships, container manufacturing, electromechanical industry and other industries .
Chinese name | Galvanized sheet | Foreign name | cold rolled sheet |
category | Zinc production process | Brand | SGCC |
effect | Galvanized steel is a steel plate with a layer of metal zinc on the surface to prevent corrosion and extend its service life. | use | Automobile manufacturing, electrical appliances, etc. |
Due to different treatment methods in the coating and plating process, the surface conditions of galvanized sheets are also different, such as ordinary zinc spangles, fine zinc spangles, flat zinc spangles, no zinc spangles, and phosphating treated surfaces.
Brand Description:
SGCC is the abbreviation of hot-dip galvanized steel sheet, where:
The first part, S stands for Steel,
The second part, G stands for Galvanized,
The third part, C stands for Cold Rolling,
Part 4, C stands for Common level.
Current plate thickness:
Plate Thickness | Maximum processable size |
0.5 | 2440*1220 |
0.8 | 2440*1220 |
1.0 | 2440*1220 |
1.2 | 2440*1220 |
1.5 | 2440*1220 |
2.0 | 2440*1220 |
2.5 | 2440*1220 |
3.0 | 2440*1220 |

Galvanized sheet SGCC VS SECC:
Galvanized steel sheets are classified into different categories according to the production method and the treatment method in the coating process. They can be mainly divided into SGCC and SECC:
SGCC | SECC | |
definition | Hot-dip galvanized steel sheets. No domestic steel mills can produce high-quality materials. They are mainly imported from abroad. | Electro-galvanized steel sheet is a stamping material that is made by coating the surface of cold-rolled sheet with zinc. |
characteristic | 1>Corrosion resistance; 2>Paintability; 3>Formability; 4>Spot weldability | Fingerprint-resistant, has excellent corrosion resistance, and maintains the processability of cold-rolled sheet |
use | It is widely used, especially in small household appliances and places with high requirements on appearance. However, SGCC is relatively expensive, so many manufacturers will switch to SECC to save costs. | Commonly used in household appliances, computer cases, door panels and panels, etc. The quality of zinc layers produced domestically is much worse than that of foreign ones. |
Zinc layer thickness | The zinc layer of SGCC is relatively thick, generally 80-300g/㎡ | SECC zinc layer is generally 10-50g/㎡ |
Mechanical properties:
Yield Strength (YS) | ≥205MPa |
Tensile Strength (TS) | ≥270MPa |
Elongation (EL) | ≥38% |

Surface treatment:
Galvanized sheet zinc layer thickness: The zinc coating amount is a commonly used and effective method to express the zinc layer thickness of the galvanized sheet. The standard weight of the hot-dip galvanized zinc layer is generally 275g/㎡.
Galvanized sheet supports the following surface treatments:
Plastic spraying
Silkscreen
Laser marking
Application areas:
SGCC galvanized sheet in CNC fabrication is a commonly used steel material with the characteristics of corrosion resistance, paintability, formability and spot weldability. It is widely used in small household appliances and other sheet metal products with generally high corrosion resistance.
Construction | SGCC steel plates are widely used in the construction field, such as making roof panels, wall panels, roof trusses, steel structures, etc. |
Automotive | SGCC steel plates can be used to make automobile bodies, chassis, doors, hoods and other parts. |
Shipbuilding | SGCC steel plates can be used to make ship hulls, decks and other parts |
