Stainless Steel-201 material usage in CNC fabrication
Basic introduction:
201 stainless steel material usage in CNC fabrication has certain acid and alkali resistance, high density, polishing without bubbles and pinholes, etc. It is a high-quality material for producing various watch cases, watch strap bottom covers, etc. It is mainly used to make decorative pipes, industrial pipes, and some shallow-drawn products.

304 stainless steel is a grade of stainless steel produced according to American ASTM standards.
201 stainless steel grade description:
China mainly has the following 200 series steel grades: J1, J3, J4, 201, 202, and later there were 200 steel grades with lower nickel content control. As for 201C, it is an extended steel grade of 201 developed by some Chinese steel mills in this later period.
The national standard grade of 201 is:
Old grade 1Cr17Mn6Ni5N,
New grade: 12Cr17Mn6Ni5N 201C (i.e., based on 201, the nickel content is further reduced and the manganese content is increased)

Application areas:
201 stainless steel is a widely used material in CNC fabrication, mainly used in many industries and fields such as automobiles, medicine, food, electricity, water conservancy, and construction.
Its specific uses include:
Manufacture of decorative pipes, industrial pipes and some shallow drawn products.
Architectural decoration, such as handrails, railings, door handles, door frames, stair railings, etc., because of its beautiful appearance and good corrosion resistance.
It is widely used in the manufacture of kitchen utensils, such as pots, pans, woks, etc., because of its corrosion resistance and good processing properties, it is suitable for manufacturing durable and easy-to-clean kitchen utensils.
Used in furniture manufacturing, such as furniture accessories, bed frames, table and chair legs, etc. Its corrosion resistance and beautiful appearance make the furniture more modern and high-end.
It is used to manufacture automotive parts, such as body trims, exhaust pipes, door trims, etc. Due to its excellent processing performance, it can meet some lightweight and decorative requirements.
It has certain applications in the manufacture of some electronic products, such as mobile phone casings, electronic equipment brackets, etc. Its corrosion resistance and good processing properties make it a suitable material for some electronic products.
Used to manufacture various mechanical parts, such as bearings, screws, springs, etc., as well as containers and equipment for storing chemical substances.
It is also widely used in the food processing field, for manufacturing food processing equipment and kitchen utensils.
It is also used in the manufacture of medical devices because of its good biocompatibility and will not cause allergies or pollution to the human body.
It is also widely used in the field of environmental protection, such as waste incineration equipment, sewage treatment equipment, etc., because of its corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, these equipment need to operate stably for a long time.
Disadvantages of 201 stainless steel:
The disadvantage of this series of materials' usage in CNC fabrication is that the chromium content below 18% cannot reach a balance with the low nickel content and forms ferrite. For this reason, the chromium content in the 200 series stainless steel is reduced to 13.5% to 15%, and in some cases to 13% to 14%. Its corrosion resistance cannot be compared with 304 and other similar steels .
In addition, manganese and in some cases copper reduce the effect of repassivation under the acidic conditions common in deposits and crevice corrosion sites. The 200 series steels will deteriorate under these conditions at a rate of about 10-100 times that of 304 stainless steel . The residual sulfur and carbon content in these steels is often not controlled in production and the material cannot be traced back to its source, even when the material is recycled. If the Cr-Mn steels are not specified, they will become a dangerous scrap steel blend, resulting in castings with unexpectedly high manganese content.
